A gold medal logistics performance

A gold medal logistics performance

Centurion’s heavy haulage team recently completed a large move transporting a fleet of Caterpillar 789C dump trucks.

The move included the use of various Centurion heavy-rated prime movers, low loaders, semi-trailers and specialised steerable platform trailers.

Centurion was tasked with moving the 100-tonne-plus dump trucks from various sites and engineering houses in Mackay to the Mackay port laydown area and then supported the ship loading operation by delivering the dump trucks to the ship’s hook.

The 14 dump trucks were moved by boat from Mackay to Port Hedland, where Centurion then transported them safely to their final destination on schedule and without incident. (See it here)

Centurion National Heavy Haulage Manager Corey French said the operation ran smoothly and highlighted the company’s national heavy haulage footprint and capabilities.

“We pride ourselves on the safe and efficient transportation of heavy goods and equipment for our customers.” Mr French said.

“Throughout the planning stage of this project we worked closely with our customer and other key stakeholders to ensure the dump trucks were handled in the most efficient way possible. This included transporting the dump trucks in their largest possible configuration in each state to minimise unnecessary mechanical, labour and crane hire expenses, while aiming to reduce shipping and stevedoring costs”.

“Every load was transported on a Centurion vehicle and it was pleasing to see one of our brand new Kenworth K200 heavy-spec prime movers working on the project in Mackay.”
