Local firm JRT Civil has been awarded the $15 million tender for construction of Stage Two of the $30 million Panorama Drive project, Yeppoon.
Mayor Bill Ludwig said Panorama Drive was a key strategic road network project which would unlock a range of opportunities for the region.
“When finished, Panorama Drive will provide an alternative access to the northern suburbs of Yeppoon and adjacent rural areas facilitating future growth and providing connectivity to relieve traffic congestion as well as providing an important alternative transport route during natural disasters,” he said.
“As an additional benefit, construction of this critical $15 million next stage will also create local jobs and generate much needed economic activity.”
Stage Two will see Panorama Drive formed from Adelaide Park Road to Farnborough Road to become the strategic link to the northern suburbs.
Successful tenderer JRT Civil has been involved in construction projects including The Pines in Yeppoon and the new Parkhurst Town Centre and Ergon Energy redevelopment in Rockhampton.
Director Jason Thomasson commended the council for having a strong focus on ensuring the Panorama Drive project was creating local jobs for local workers.
The project has been jointly funded by Livingstone Shire Council and the Queensland Government.
Keppel MP Brittany Lauga said the Queensland Government was proud to be playing a major role in the Panorama Drive project.
