Townsville Enterprise is looking for a new board member after the resignation of high profile property developer Laurence Lancini.
Mr Lancini’s decision, after more than a decade on the TEL board, comes on the back of his recent appointment as the President of the Property Council of Australia-Queensland.
His resignation came with a great degree of sadness but he was confident in the future of the organisation, Mr Lancini said.
“Much has happened over the past 11 years, and it has been a privilege to be part of a group of inspiring city leaders who have held various positions within Townsville Enterprise”, Mr Lancini said.
“Our city and region have seen enormous growth in various sectors of the economy with many of these initiatives being led by Townsville Enterprise. I have confidence in the current management structure and I know the organisation will do well into the future”.
“I thank my fellow Directors and Townsville Enterprise staff for the respect and friendship they have all shown me. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work alongside such a great team”.
Townsville Enterprise Chairman Kevin Gill said Mr Lancini had contributed significantly for over a decade and his contribution would be missed.
“Laurence Lancini is a visionary who knows how to get things done. He has played an instrumental role in helping secure commitments for some of North Queensland’s most game changing projects and initiatives. He will remain an important stakeholder and friend of our organisation”, Mr Gill said.
Townsville Enterprise CEO Patricia O’Callaghan said while Mr Lancini had resigned from Board Director duties, he will continue to play an active role in Townsville Enterprise initiatives focused on mentoring and developing the local business community.
“Laurence has been doing business in North Queensland for a long time and has extensive networks across local, state and national platforms. We will continue to work with him on initiatives that will further develop our local business community and will be announcing details in the near future”, Ms O’Callaghan said.
The Board of Townsville Enterprise has commenced the recruitment of a new Board Director.
