Cairns Chamber of Commerce chief executive officer Deb Hancock is swapping business in the tropics for science in the west.
Ms Hancock is leaving her role with the chamber after five years to become CEO of Western Australian-based not-for-profit organisation Scitech.
Cairns Chamber of Commerce president Nick Loukas said the organisation had become one of the largest Chambers of Commerce in regional Australia under Ms Hancock’s leadership.
“The Cairns Chamber now has the largest number of funding platinum partners in its history, new membership options, the Emerging Leaders Program and the Developing Womens Leadership Program to name just a few initiatives that were created by Deb that will continue to drive the organisation to support members into the future,” he said.
“Additionally, the inaugural Business Excellence Awards is a legacy event that will also continue to celebrate business excellence for many years to come after Deb’s departure.”
Ms Hancock will be relocating with family to take up her new role in Perth in mid-September.
