Rockhampton renovations, tender opportunities

A $5 million revamp is planned for the North Rockhampton Nursing Centre.

Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga said the funds had been allocated for a complete redesign, refurbishment and remodelling of the Cec Pritchard Nursing Centre Wing to improve residential care accommodation services.

“The forecast completion of detailed design and cost estimates is expected in September 2017, soon after which the procurement for construction will begin,” she said.

The North Rockhampton Nursing Centre is the largest nursing centre in Rockhampton provided by Queensland Health that offers 100 care places for long-term residential aged care, respite care and secure dementia care with 24/7 services.

Mrs Lauga also highlighted a raft of government-led maintenance and office upgrade work across Rockhampton and the Capricorn Coast regions, saying the Queensland Government was seeking tenders and encouraging locals to apply.

“One project is for fit-out and upgrade works to government offices, and the other is for maintenance and restoration works on a number of heritage-listed buildings across Rockhampton,” Mrs Lauga said.

“The Palaszczuk Government is determined to make sure locals were involved in the work, so I strongly encourage local businesses to apply.

“We’ll be seeking interest from a range of local contractors to undertake the office upgrade, which will include demolition and a complete office fit-out to provide an eco-friendly and sustainable working environment for essential government staff.

“We’re also looking for local contractors to undertake restoration work and create jobs on four buldings within the Rockhampton Government Offices heritage precinct.

“Work is there for tradies who can undertake a range of restoration works including painting, decking, re-grouting, removal and replacement of tiles, replacement of gutters and other repairs.”
