The dive in the Surat Basin’s DIDO/FIFO population figures seems to have stopped.
There’s been a steady decrease in demand for workers as energy developments move from construction to operation.
Queensland Government statistician’s office projects that the non-resident population will level out to between 3140 and 4110 by 2023.
It was estimated at 3820 in June 2016.
That was more than 70 per cent less than 12 months earlier and down from a peak of more than 14,490 in June 2014.
