Ravenswood Gold, with its plans to double its workforce, was a highlight on the first day of a Townsville Enterprise North West Queensland road trip.
The economic development group has launched the trip to highlight the importance of the Townsville-Mount Isa corridor to the region and Queensland’s COVID-19 economic recovery.
Townsville Enterprise chief executive officer Patricia O’Callaghan and director of policy and investment Wayde Chiesa plan to meet with leaders from major mining operations including South32 Cannington, Incitec Pivot, MMG Dugald River and Glencore Mount Isa as well as local government representatives, regional chambers of commerce and community representatives along the corridor.
Ms O’Callaghan said they had the opportunity to tour Ravenswood Gold mine and hear about its expansion project.

The operation has a significant footprint across the north, with 95 per cent of employees permanent residents of areas including Townsville, Ayr, Charters Towers, Ravenswood and Ingham.
Charters Towers Regional Council hosted the TEL delegates in Charters Towers, where the focus included COVID-19 economic recovery and the Big Rocks Weir Project, with the council nominating as project proponent if it proceeds. More HERE
The first day concluded in Flinders Shire, with a visit to the new Recreational Lake Precinct.
